Lupane, Zimbabwe – In a bid to reduce the amount of time learners spend on social media, the Christian Youth Volunteers Association Trust (CYVAT) has donated a variety of games to all primary and secondary schools schools in Lupane. The initiative aims to encourage learners to engage in intellectual activities and interact with their peers.

Speaking to Matabeleland Pulse, CYVAT official Meck Sibanda said, “We believe that games can play a significant role in reducing the frequency of social media usage among learners. By providing them with alternative forms of entertainment, we hope to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and social interaction.”

“We believe that games can play a significant role in reducing the frequency of social media usage among learners. By providing them with alternative forms of entertainment, we hope to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and social interaction.”

The donation, which includes board games such as chess, number puzzles, and other recreational materials, was made to all schools in Lupane. Sibanda added, “Our goal is to ensure that learners have access to a wide range of activities that can help them develop their skills and build their confidence. We believe that this initiative will have a positive impact on their overall well-being.”

The CYVAT official also expressed concern about the negative effects of excessive social media usage on learners. “Social media can be a significant distraction for learners, and excessive usage can lead to a decline in academic performance. By providing them with alternative forms of entertainment, we hope to mitigate this problem and promote a healthier lifestyle.”

The donation was well-received by learners and teachers alike. One learner, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “I’m excited to play the new games that CYVAT has donated. It’s a great way to take a break from social media and have fun with my friends.”

A teacher at one of the beneficiary schools, who also wished to remain anonymous, praised the initiative, saying, “This is a wonderful initiative that will help our learners develop their social skills and build their confidence. We’re grateful to CYVAT for their generosity and commitment to promoting the well-being of our learners.”

The CYVAT initiative is part of a broader effort to promote youth development and empowerment in Lupane. The organization has been working with local schools and communities to provide support and resources to young people.

In conclusion, the CYVAT donation is a welcome development for learners in Lupane. By providing them with access to a variety of games and recreational activities, the organization hopes to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic excellence. As Sibanda noted, “We’re committed to supporting the development of young people in Lupane, and we believe that this initiative will have a positive impact on their lives.”
